This day began with a leisurely and scenic drive through Petrified Forest National Park, where the trees are rocks and the vistas are pretty.
But also petrifying...
Then we stopped for gas, picnic provisions, and our fix of rocks and fake dinosaurs in Holbrook, AZ.
Certain members of our party were deeply troubled by these concrete "wigwams."
But we pressed on to the Grand Canyon, and after a brief waylay, which left our beloved van Champagne a bit more recognizable from behind, we made it to the Grand Canyon.
It was a bit brisk and a little rainy, so Nikki generously shared the warmth of her hot beverage with her comrades.
We stayed for the sunset, which was glorious. And then, exhausted, we headed back to Flagstaff to fill our bellies and toast a great day of adventures.
